about
December is upon us, and already Christmas is fast approaching. Me and my producer were bouncing this track back and forth for the last few days, and it finally feels like it's in a place where I can share it. Of course, there's always going to be a few last things I wish I could change. That's life.
It's going to be about 5 days before I can post this track to Spotify and the rest. Apple Music might be a bit quicker. Still, it sucks that I won't be getting this out until 2 weeks before Christmas. Ideally I would have had it done last week, but the mix always takes a bit to get just right, and I didn't even get the idea until the week before. It's like that sometimes- preparation is key, but so often the idea only comes once the season is upon us. That's life, too.
Time is funny. While the months have felt like years, the days pass by quickly. Over these waves, progress is made or lost by the choices we make in the moment. I've been doing well. I'm choosing productivity more often. Every day I'm trying to get a little better, a little further towards my goals. Sometimes it feels a little easier, but sometimes it's not. That's life, as far as I can tell, stripped down to its barest essentials.
I hope you enjoy this track. Pass it along if it means something to you.
Best,
Atlas
lyrics
What does Christmas mean to me?
Well above all else it's family
They're there through all the worst times,
They're there through all the best
But we live in different cities
Yeah they each have their own nest
What is silver, what is gold?
What we need is a warm hand to hold
The fire divides us
The fire begins
To take position
Check your wishlist
Cause the ICUs are filling up again
Everything is out of control
And it feels like there's nowhere to go
Feel the fire grow
I fear, my dear,
There won't be a Christmas this year
What I'm wondering is how
If we wore masks we'd be done by now
You're telling me don't get to see my niece
Cause we acted like it was normal
For so long
Now the ICU's are filling up again
Everything is out of control
And it feels like there's nowhere to go
Feel the fire grow
I fear, my dear,
There won't be a Christmas this year
Everything is out of control
And it feels like there's nowhere to go
Feel the fire grow
I fear, my dear,
There won't be a Christmas this year

There are parts to dance to, there are parts to headbang to, and sometimes you'll want to do both in the same song. Each song is its own sonic world. Ska, but also punk, metal, and indie. Atlas & Oracle
This album takes a traditionally rooted but definitively modern approach to ska with an anti-racist message that's refreshingly political. One of the best debuts in ska, and there's stiff competition. Atlas & Oracle
Each track introduces brand new sounds to ska. This album makes me excited to be alive for this era of ska music, and even more excited for the checkered future. Atlas & Oracle
This outstanding compilation of bands from Indonesia puts a focus on atmospheric pop and rock music, with hooks 20-stories high. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 3, 2022
Taking cues from Midwestern emo and early ’10 pop punk, this Leeds, UK outfit are full of heart— not to mention hooks. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 21, 2022
