about

7 decades of pop music, arranged in a new style of the 2020s: synth ska.

Sad Songs With Happy Endings, which came out on July 4th of this year, was pop ska - ska with pop influence. This includes synth, but it also includes skanking guitars. This is not synth ska.

Jubilee, our first album, was ska pop- pop with ska influence- but on that album were a few songs that took it a step further, and actually used synths to play the classic ska offbeat rhythm. This is synth ska.

I only speak with such authority on this distinction because as of today, the only releases on Bandcamp tagged as Synth Ska came from Atlas & Oracle. I'm not kidding, check it out: bandcamp.com/tag/synth-ska

We honestly don't know if there's demand for this kind of music, but we have a lot of fun making it. This one has been in the works for a long time- initial recording sessions kicked off about 14 months ago.

A lot has happened during that time. I feel like we could all use some songs that just sound pretty.
