In the darkest of times, it's necessary to find a bit of optimism lest you slip into giving up entirely at the absolute state of things. It's been worse before, and it might get worse again- but it might get better.

Like the Northern Star, that glimmer of hope keeps us moving towards a brighter future. For ourselves, for our loved ones- and for each other, too. A future where we can safely say that we're doing our best to help each other live full, meaningful lives. A future that, with each passing day, feels further away.

But we can't give up. We owe it to the children not to surrender.

Life goes on- it went on before us, and it will go on after we're gone. But for the children, life is still new, and feels very permanent. It's our duty as adults to provide them with the very best support we're capable of.
