SPECIAL NOTE, PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
1. To choose your color (yellow, forest, or white), please choose "Include a message to Atlas & Oracle" while adding the item to your cart.
2. Starting with 2XL, the shirts start getting $2 more expensive to produce per upsize. If you're able, consider chipping in a couple extra dollars!

about
I hesitate to write this caption. Though there are 14 tracks on this album, this is the finale- think of the next one as the encore. Part of me doesn't want it to be over.
I want to go back and reread every caption I wrote and rewrite and edit and make sure everything's parfect so that no one can misunderstand me. But I won't.
I want to listen to the songs on a dozen different audio sources and make 1% adjustments to the levels until everything is perfectly mixed. I want to write new songs to replace the ones I'm self-conscious about.
But I won't.
All I can do is hope I've said everything I wanted to say as accurately and succinctly as I was possibly capable of.
This song, the title track, was the last song written for this album. Well, besides the actual last track, but I'd been working on that one in my head for a while.
It was intended to sum up the whole album- a thesis statement, if you will, though there are other songs that could fit that category as well.
Jubilee is originally a Biblical term. I can feel your eyebrows raising, and don't worry, I'm not about to get all religious on you.
You probably know that the Sabbath happens once every 7 days. You can also have sabbatical years, which occur once every 7 years.
Jubilee, the Sabbath's Sabbath, is meant to happen once every set of 7 x 7 years. This is a time to return land that you had taken, to free your slaves and prisoners, and to forgive the debts owed to you.
A beautiful concept, and you can see why they'd put that in the Bible. But there is no evidence that this practice ever occurred.
Because why would it? That would require the people in power to give up some of their power for the greater good. In history, this rarely happens.
We like to believe that we are owed the land we live on. But we don't take care of it.
We like to believe we can prove we're better than others through the money we have and the power we have over them. But this practice makes us worse.
We like to believe that certain people deserve no better than to rot in prison. We fought a war over whether or not it was ok to own slaves, and some people never got over it.
We are not ok. We desperately need help.
No one is coming to help us.
We must help each other.
If there's a way forward, it's through reconciliation. We are on land that we stole, and have the nerve to hold property over other's heads.
If we're lucky, this will be an era that humans will look back on with disgust. If we work really hard, they may be able to hold us up as an example of what not to do.
If we aren't, and if we don't, it's going to keep going like this. And then, one day, or perhaps painfully slowly, it will stop.
And there will be no one left to remember what was so important about money in the first place.
lyrics
Up at night
The mistakes of past lives threatening
To undo my mind they're beckoning
Not to make the same mistake and on and on
Heroes to
Some but not to all
We're watching them
One by one they fall
Will we admit
that the prosperous will never speak for all?
And oftentimes I feel l
Don't know what to do
It's hard to think that they thought
Any of this through
Who can we be when all our
History is clogged with broken bones,
And we put them on display?
The past is beckoning
Will we receive the message?
So many yet to learn
To understand the lesson
They'll say try all you want
They'll say no one can save you
But why can't we try
To help each other save ourselves?
Hey
To start it off
Just remember it's all fables
From unjustified crusaders
Who we idolize as if they cared at all
It's not enough
To repair your past transgressions
It's a system of oppression
And we transgress just by
Saying nothing's wrong
And oftentimes I feel l
Don't know what to do
It's hard to think that they thought
Any of this through
Who can we be when all our
History is clogged with broken bones,
And we put them on display?
The past is beckoning
Will we receive the message?
So many yet to learn
To understand the lesson
The signal's strengthening
And we can read you clearly
For those who just woke up
Come on and hear me
They'll say try all you want
They'll say no one can save you
But why can't we try
To help each other save ourselves?
Hey

There are parts to dance to, there are parts to headbang to, and sometimes you'll want to do both in the same song. Each song is its own sonic world. Ska, but also punk, metal, and indie. Atlas & Oracle
This album takes a traditionally rooted but definitively modern approach to ska with an anti-racist message that's refreshingly political. One of the best debuts in ska, and there's stiff competition. Atlas & Oracle
Each track introduces brand new sounds to ska. This album makes me excited to be alive for this era of ska music, and even more excited for the checkered future. Atlas & Oracle
Adopting an optimistic, genre-fluid mindset atypical to most contemporary punk rock, the Aussies rage against the machine with glee. Bandcamp New & Notable May 2, 2024
