Cover Art Collection
This shirt features the beautiful 'Starry Day' cover art from Jubilee, our first full-length album. Lightweight and breathable. A bit nicer than Gildan so it's a couple bucks more. Available in 3 great colors- which one do you like the best?
SPECIAL NOTE, PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING:
1. To choose your color (yellow, forest, or white), please choose "Include a message to Atlas & Oracle" while adding the item to your cart.
2. Starting with 2XL, the shirts start getting $2 more expensive to produce per upsize. If you're able, consider chipping in a couple extra dollars!
3. XS and 5XL are NOT available in Forest or Yellow. Apologies, this is a restraint of the printing company.

about
"I've been ruminating, and I don't think I can come to terms with it, honestly- everything we've done."
Humans can be so cruel. They can be so kind and generous as well. But for some reason, the kind ones don't tend to get into power.
Once you're in power, you can control aspects of culture. If you control culture, you control minds.
If you want to stay in power, get people to think that THEY'RE the ones who have the power. Give them power over others.
Everyone has power over someone else, all the way down the hierarchy. This is what we've been told is the natural course of human life. Look at nature, after all- survival of the fittest.
Except we're not existing in a world of predators and prey. Well, we are in a way- we have created a culture where it is acceptable to play the role of predator, and make other humans your prey.
But stop and think for a second.
Think about behaviors you appreciate in others- kindness, generosity, reciprocal respect.
Now, think about the behaviors that we value as part of our culture's obsession with "getting ahead"- aggression masked as assertiveness, self-centeredness masked as confidence, and a ruthless disregard for the value of human life masked as shrewd business acumen.
Really value that moment of stopping, and thinking about these things. Appreciate that you are capable of doing so. Then realize that almost everyone in the world is capable as well.
So if we can individually reflect, change, and improve ourselves, why can't we do so culturally?
One view of cultural improvement is technologically based- who can invent the coolest new things, the gadgets that will bring us into the future.
But we're in the future. And the only thing about it that doesn't suck is that there are still good people.
So I say we culturally improve in a different way- let's learn to care about each other. Let's get past survival of the fittest, and replace it with survival of our species as a whole.
We're not getting rid of each other. The only option is to change.

This song was released as a demo with MIDI instruments on December 23, 2020. It never actually made it to Spotify- I knew that I needed to wait until I had a live trumpet player, something which at the time felt decades away from happening.
Atlas & Oracle started as a one-person project. The earliest demos, I stayed away from the Garageband horn sounds because they just sounded too distractingly fake. I replaced the intended horn parts with synths.
For the second demo EP, I switched to guitar and synth. That didn't feel right either.
This demo existed in a weird space where I had settled on using the horn sounds in Logic (I upgraded after EP 2) but they didn't sound all that good enough by themselves- only as a group.
And besides that, they had no emotion. This song needed emotion.
I went with synth for the demo. But I decided that this would be the one track on the album that would have a real trumpet.
Almost two years later, Jubilee features 14 tracks, with horns on 92.8% of them.
Thanks for being along for the ride.
lyrics
Do you remember who you were
Before you were told what's normal?
Were you a kind and loving soul?
Do you remember who were
Before you were told who's worthless?
You couldn't have been very old
When you were told
Now our minds, colonized
Stricken of faith and virtue
So many times have we died
Waiting to recall
I've been ruminating
And I don't think
Can come to terms with it
Honestly
Everything we've done
Can't move on without it
But I don't know what to do about it
Honestly
Everything we've done
A child, raised in this
Grows up bitter, and depressed
Hungry, searching for the truth
Hopelessly alienated youth
Those who look around will find
That we're much greater when combined
Yeah we're much greater when combined
Yeah we're much greater when combined
Now our minds, colonized
Stricken of love and meaning
So many times have we died
Waiting to recall
I've been ruminating
And I don't think
Can come to terms with it
Honestly
Everything we've done
Let's just talk about it
And maybe we can start to unravel it
Honestly
Everything we've done

There are parts to dance to, there are parts to headbang to, and sometimes you'll want to do both in the same song. Each song is its own sonic world. Ska, but also punk, metal, and indie. Atlas & Oracle
This album takes a traditionally rooted but definitively modern approach to ska with an anti-racist message that's refreshingly political. One of the best debuts in ska, and there's stiff competition. Atlas & Oracle
Each track introduces brand new sounds to ska. This album makes me excited to be alive for this era of ska music, and even more excited for the checkered future. Atlas & Oracle
